Excellence in Action Video Series
This series of short videos features outstanding educators, centres, and approaches in the child care field. Our hope is that these videos will not only recognize & celebrate the valuable efforts of child care professionals in BC, but also provide inspiration to other educators by showcasing the innovative work being done to support children’s behaviours across the province.
Below you will find three videos showcasing centres across BC who do excellent work in supporting children's behaviours through the environments, relationships, and understandings of behaviour, as well as a complementary worksheet for each video to help you integrate your learning.
Environments
This video features 5 centres across BC, each of whom has gone above and beyond to adapt the child care environment to the needs of their program. This video features a range of environments, including an outdoor space, a purpose-built centre, and a sensory-focused program.
Relationships
This video features one centre that demonstrates excellence in cultivating and maintaining relationships with children, families, community members, and staff. This video showcases several of these relationships and also interviews centre staff about their strategies for involving family and community members in the work they do.
Understanding Behaviour
This video highlights the work of SCD consultant, Belle Sandhu, and a program she is partnered with, Jericho Kids Club. Conversations include how to support children’s behaviour through various approaches and strategies that can be implemented within child care programs.
